Claiming to be one of Malaysia's first restaurants to offer Spanish buffet, La Gomera is nestled within the newly-finished Neo Damansara building in Damansara Perdana. Nearly invisible from the main road, its tricky to spot at first until you actually enter the compound of Neo Damansara.
The cold tapas table...
The decor is mainly red-and-black themed, and Spanish-sounding music blares through the speakers overhead. There's cold tapas, paella, gazpacho...and that's literally as Spanish as it gets.
Soups and stews...
Drinks and desserts...
The main buffet itself consisted of meat, mainly beef and lamb stews. Follow the arrow down the corridor and you come to another section where you can order a variety of seafood and other meaty sides.
Those of you who have visited Tenji or Jogoya before will be familiar with the ordering method involving clips and glass bowls. =)
Overall, this place disappointed me as most of the dishes felt like a Chinese chef trying to dabble in Spanish cuisine. The paella itself tasted like extra salty fried rice. I termed it as the wannabe-Spanish restaurant. And I haven't even begun to rant about the service. I don't like to blog about places with bad food / service but this one deserved an exception. I hope within the next few months, it improves because the hype of its promotions can only help to pay the rent for so long.
This is Justin, signing out.
